Not Complaining

Fort Dodge is so lonely, I don't mean to complain, but it seems so quiet here. Music tends to get me through. That and beer, whatevers cheapest, cuz i only piss it out. I ran into some dude at the FYE and he was cool as shit, he made my day all better. I was looking for a present for Audra's b-day. I ended up finding nothing. I did find plenty I would want. Too bad I aint got shit for funds right now. I def would like to have the new Mos Def album, that shit was good. Can't remember what it was, twas good though.

The guy was from Minneapolis, and has seen all the Rhymesayers or how ever you say it. He was totally cool about the MN rap scene. He knew everything. I need to revisit. I can't get enough of P.O.S either. I have a tendency to get drunk and pop it in and fade from reality for a few minutes. Thanks mang. This is what gets me through.

Inspiration

Wow, time flies by and its been a while since I've blogged. I have been up to a lot, and at the same time haven't done much. I have been to a wedding at the end of May and been home for my mothers birthday, and working at Heartland taking crap for nearly everything I do and getting not much in return. Its a wonder they hang onto employees that long. Anyways I'm not going to get into that. I will however, get into this music thing. While I'm at work there is a lot of time to listen to stuff. I use pandora.com its a great site you can use to setup a radio station of sorts to whatever kind of music you like. Its not anything new, but some people haven't used it. The best thing about it is its free. The second best part is it shows me other bands with similar sounds and qualities. Thats how I found these guys... Radical Face. Its nice stuff I found it while listening to Animal Collective, and its kinda sweet. Its different, but very good.

Other than that I have been starting to draw more lately, I've started a self portrait mainly because I don't have a camera, and a Michael Jordan portrait. I think I tend to paint faces because I like the challenge it poses, and I am always trying to get better. If I haven't said it yet, one of my greatest passions is basketball, from playing outside at the court, to watching the NBA. That's where I get a lot of my images. Its just easy to get my hands on a magazine, or digital image. Hopefully I can set aside some time tonight and paint more, and eventually get up some pics to show progress and such. I may have to go out and fork out some cash for a new digital camera yet, but anyways.

design

I've been following this Jacob Cass for about 4 months and pick up what I can use from his site. Mostly I delve into the links and some stories he posts. I find inspiring for my designs at work, and more personally for my own portfolio. I can honestly say that this guy has given me a better appreciation for design, and with that I've worked to better my skills. If you haven't checked out this guy and you call yourself a designer, I would.

7:30 monday/tues

This morning was good so far, kinda unexpected since its my first day of work this week. I was not looking forward to this day after the four day weekend I just had. First of all I can back up and say, I had an excellent weekend. On Thursday I left work around 2 and sped to Iowa City to meet my once a week girl friend. Being with Audra since high school somehow we manage.

The weekend for us is a mini vacation probably like most other people, but for us its our sole time to see one another. We go all week playing phone tag, and when we do get a hold of each other we cant think of anything to say except "i miss you", "i love u" pretty unproductive convos, but its all I can think to say sometimes. So, with that in mind this weekend we actually had plans :0

We met Audra's friend at Randy's condo for pre party to the Pharmacy prom as everyone called it. Actually the event was a Black and White masquerade ball for the college of Pharmacy. My first impression of Audra's friends was good, well, technically I've met all of them except for Randy, whom I found to be a very likable guy.

The ball was very much just what the doctor odered. Ha, this guy pumped the keg in front of me at the ball, and Randy turned to me and whispered thats the Dean of the College of Pharmacy. Now, in that moment, I realized something. All the Deans of any college in my little experience have looked the same, or at least related. Bald. Mustasche. Glasses. Pretty nerdy I must say. (sometimes its fun to be shallow) He turned, smiled, and said you don't think I haven't done this before? I liked it.

The food was great the company was awesome. I had the prettiest girl. Life was good.

nothing to do with above, but interesting nonetheless.
